    The Present perfect

    We use the Present perfect to speak about actions that happened before now, and are unfinished or happened at an unspecified time.

     

    Affirmative

    Person + Have/Has + Past Participle

    She has lived in London since 1998.

    Negative

    Person + Have/Has not + Past Participle

    We haven’t been to Russia.

    Interrogative

    Have/Has + Person + Past Participle

    Have you drank pomegranate juice?


    Present perfect + for and since

    FOR: We use for to talk about a period of time

    (For two days, for a week, for seven years, for five minutes…)

    SINCE: A point in time

    Since 1988, since last week, since the minute I met you, since January.

     

    Lucy has worked at the hospital since 2005.

    Lucy has worked at the hospital for 13 years.

    Matt has been a photographer since 2003.

    Matt has been a photographer for 15 years.

    They have been married since June

    They have been married for three months.
