“Mr Peters has asked me to speak here today to tell you about one of our successes last year, our advertising campaign for the new mobile phone we released in August. The campaign was focused towards younger people, and when I say younger, I am referring to the twenty somethings.
The phone has a wealth of features that appeal to this age group, with a touch screen, music player, camera, Youtube video streaming and more things. We decided to launch two main campaigns, one focused on magazines that are read by that age group, like gossip, sports, and technology magazines.The second campaign used online email accounts such as Yahoo and Hotmail where we purchased banner space next to inboxes so that the mobile would be easily seen.
All of the ads used a “cool” vibe, with photos set in bars, on beaches, and fast-food restaurants. To do this, we hired a photographer who had worked on many large international projects for MTV, FHM, and other big name companies. The models were selected for their modern street wise vibe.
As I mentioned, the campaign, despite being very expensive, was a total success, making the new model, the quickest selling model of mobile we have ever launched on the market. So far, it has outsold other models we have with similar characteristics at a rate of three to one”.
